THE DECEIT JOURNEY

2016: The Birth of Deceit

2017: EARLY ACCESS on STEAM

  • Deceit launches on Steam, introducing its core mechanics—innocents vs. infected, deception, and survival.

  • The game begins building a niche social deduction community, drawn to its unique blend of horror and strategy.

  • Early adopters appreciate the game’s emphasis on mind games, teamwork, and betrayal.

Late 2017-2018: Expansion & Free-to-PLay

  • Deceit transitions to a Free-to-Play model, significantly boosting player numbers and engagement.

  • Regular updates, refined gameplay, and expanded content solidify its growing community.

  • Becomes the most popular game in Thailand for a period.

  • Gains traction with streamers, leading to a feature at TwitchCon for its multistream support.

  • Sees a rise in popularity in China, expanding its global player base.

  • Introduces the Forest, Arctic, Manor, and Lumberyard maps, bringing fresh environments and gameplay dynamics.

2019: LIMITED DEVeLOPMENT

2020: A New Era for Social Deduction in Deceit

  • A major update tries to bring more deduction to a game that has become increasingly action focused.

  • The new night phase turns players into shadowy figures, emphasising social deduction.

  • Reactions are split—some embrace the change, others miss the fast pace.

  • The update sparks debate on balancing deception with player agency.

2021: Refining the Formula Based on Community Feedback

  • We refine pacing, balance, and objectives, blending social deduction with action.

  • Changes enhance flow, player interactions, and the balance between deception and survival.

  • Community feedback drives improvements to objectives, voting, and communication tools.

2022: The creation of Deceit 2

  • As we grew as a studio, we undertook a technical shift to a powerful new game engine, kickstarting the development of a sequel.

  • The consistent success of Deceit increased the overall budget of the franchise and enabled our insatiable desire for innovation to continue.

  • The team used this opportunity to double down on building from scratch and exploring a new narrative and setting.

  • The focus shifts toward expanding the depth of deception-based mechanics, increasing the emphasis on player psychology and strategy.

2023: Early release & Community Testing

  • Deceit 2 launches in an early form on Steam, inviting players to shape the game.

  • Feedback on social deduction, balance, and interactions drives key refinements.

  • New roles and deception tools add depth, while regular updates enhance gameplay and player experience.

2024: Deceit 2 Expands – Console & Crossplay

  • Deceit 2 officially launches on PlayStation and Xbox, reaching a wider audience.

  • Crossplay connects players across platforms, making deception more unpredictable.

  • A surge of over a million console players fuels community growth and fresh dynamics.

  • The Master Edition debuts, adding new content, including:

    • Maps: Project Wurgen, Blackthorne Manor, Cirque Du Solara

2025: What’s coming this year

We have built a deep understanding of how to blend action and social deduction. This has led us to two distinct game modes, both with dedicated communities.
